Ze cat is out of ze bag

Yes I noticed that I wasn't back for long too...

Moving on, this adorable waving kitty cat was given to me by a good buddy who came back from visiting Kanazawa, Japan, not long ago.

His round little body is handcrafted from glass with a delicate piece of gold leaf carefully inserted into his back.

Asian waving cats are known to bring in good luck. I hope in my case, it brings in motivation and inspiration too.

twice as good

2 posts a day, what is going on?

Just thought I'll make up for all the times I've been slack.

I found these really adorable handmade, hand-painted beads. I haven't decided what to do with them exactly but you might see some new necklaces or earrings popping up some time. hmm...leather or silver chain or plastic? Any suggestions?

Market Day

It was beautiful weather during Mother's Day weekend. I made the most of it by heading down to the Rose St Market in Fitzroy and the Camberwell Market.

Rose St Market is great for local designer goods, with most of the products handmade. But my favourite of the two is Camberwell Market. Fantastic place for second hand clothes and bargain buys. Check out this absolutely funky retro classic!

Haha...I love it!

Gone Fishin'

Going fishing tomorrow. I can't wait! Hope I catch something edible.

Just to be sure I practiced swimming today in case the boat capsizes tomorrow.

Cranes

First watercolour painting I've done in seven years. I feel like I'm having some sort of a creative revival. It's all coming back to me now...

Something fishy

Hurray, I've finally finished it! It is the first time I've made an item of clothing since home economics in year 8. And it fits!

It may look simple, BUT looks can be deceiving. It took a lot longer to make than I thought. Anyway I'm glad I finished it and I'll definitely make more once I've got more fabric.

The fish design is made from vintage buttons I've carefully sourced from the market. I'm obsessed with buttons, can you tell?

I know I haven't posted much lately. Sorry. I have been trying to finish making this top that I'm working on so I can photograph it and post it up.

In the mean time, check out this sneak preview of a really cool documentary on handmade contemporary crafts in the US made by artist and filmmaker Faythe Levine. : : Handmade Nation : :

Holes in None

As the only girl I know with no ear piercings, I despair at the current choices of clip-ons available. So I've decided to take charge and make a pair for myself.

These Cute as Buttons earrings are made of sturdy brass backings and vintage fabric. I hope to develop a whole range of these earrings and possibly put them up for purchase for the girl out there with no holes in her ears.

SDESIGNUNIT

The clever people at sdesignunit came up with this incredibly simple yet effective space-saving furniture.

I love it!

Dr Jekyll or Mr Hyde?

A fascinating article on the intriguing director Guillermo del Toro, who invites us to embrace and celebrate the monstrous.

"Who would you rather go out with at night? Dr Jekyll or Mr Hyde?"

Bad day

The weather was inconsistent today, and so was my mood. But overall, the day has not been good to me.

Here's something I saw in the paper to coincide with Easter and my bad day.

What do you get when you pour boiling water down a rabbit burrow?
Hot cross bunnies.

Bits and pieces of my life

A very personal collage reflecting my life, how I evolved as a person, the joys and heartaches I have experienced and the material things I enjoy.

The rich red tones sprinkled throughout the collage represent the richness and the warmth, the passions and the unforgettable memories in my life.

I also love clothes and shoes like most girls and for the first time, I am making public my daggy love for old school buttons and old fashioned romance.

Syl & Andrew: A Union

This is my first wedding I've ever attended of my closest friends. Her name is Sylvia.

I've known her since year 11 of high school and have been close friends with her ever since. 17/03/2007 is her special day and she looked beautiful. I wish them all the best.
